Well after five flights, several sleeping pills, and a few layovers, our team finally made it to Thailand! We arrived Thursday night at the Khon Kaen airport where we were greeted by all the Campus Outreach staff and families. Their sweet smiles and heartfelt hugs overwhelmed me with love, and I instantly felt safe and welcomed to my new home. Praise the Lord that we are all here!
This past weekend we spent time in orientation classes, becoming acquainted with the Thai culture and learning about our duties here. On Sunday we joined the COT staff, their families, and other Thais in church. Listening to the Thais sing while we sang in English was absolutely beautiful. It was a tiny picture of what it will be like when we are all in Heaven, rejoicing together from every tongue and nation! Also, I was so humbled by the grace that God has given us in America where so many of us are told about the gospel since birth. Less than 1% of Thais are Christian with the majority of Thailand being Buddhist. Please pray that the Lord would open up their eyes to their need for a Savior!
On Monday, we started our ministry which basically consists of us going to campus (Khon Kaen University) and trying to build relationships with people. We each have a ministry team with a Thai staff person leading us. I love my ministry team! We have already been able to meet so many sweet girls in just two days. We will continue to build relationships with the students, joining them for lunch, taking them to the movies, going shopping, etc. I am very excited to meet even more people and build deeper relationships. Thank you for all your prayers and support as this is all very new and still somewhat scary to us! Chan Lak Khun!
